Job Title: ROV Pilots
Location: Ghana
Job type: 6 weeks offshore rotation/shift
Salary: Open/ Negotiable
Summary - An ROV Pilot maintains and controls the large remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) used to explore the seafloor and to ensure the cameras, sampling tools, and sensors of each robot are ready for the science team to complete their goals.
Key Functional and Relational Responsibilities
The ROV Pilot’s main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Carrying out the dive in accordance with recognized operating procedures in order to carry out designated work safely and efficiently. Undertake navigation and observer duties and operating of manipulators and ancillary equipment fitted to the ROV. Supervising the launch and recovery of ROVs
· Assist or pilot the ROV including evaluating the environmental conditions and hazards, dock/undock from TMS (tether management system), and navigate the ROV by acoustics, sonar and visual (video).
‘· Maintaining and/or repairing ROV equipment under supervision.
· Performing basic rigging and operating small boats
· Ensuring that the ROV and all its systems are in complete working order and in compliance with all technical requirements throughout the contract period.
· Operating equipment such as cameras and interpreting data, sometimes in poor visibility, from video or sonar displays to calculate and keep track of the position of your vehicle.
· Relaying information during the dive, verbally using video equipment and computer.
· To be satisfied that prior to any dive of the submersible, all pre-dive checks have been completed.
· Ensure that the dive log is completed in full for the dive undertaken.
· Maintains parts and supplies inventory associated with all electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic assemblies and sub-assemblies
Qualification
BSc, HND, B Tech in Engineering
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar role
Completion of a recognized ROV pilot training program is essential
Certification in a Marine Association such as International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA)
Experience on the job as ROV Pilot
Technical skills and proficiency in operating and maintaining ROV systems and software
Good communication skills and must be physically fit
